Metro Rent A Car AU Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2007 and 31-Dec-2009

Upon confirming that your nominated supplier is able to supply your selected vehicle, a non-refundable deposit will be taken from your credit card to secure the booking. In addition to this the following terms and conditions apply

Rates
All rates quoted are current at the time of publication, but are subject to change prior to us confirming your booking.

Cancellation Fee
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
17 Days prior to pick up:      $100.00 
10-16 Days prior to pick up:   $150.00 
4-9 Days prior to pick up:     $175.00 
No show or cancellation on the day of collection: $200.00

Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.

Rental Duration
A rental day is 24 hours from the time of pick up. Additional hours are chargeable at the rate of 1/3 (one third) of the days rental charge per hour up to three hours. After three hours another days rental fees will be payable. Timings start from ETA of flight. We are unable to offer any grace periods.

Fines
Any parking or traffic violation that the renter fails to settle direct will incur a service fee of $75.00 in addition to the stated penalty.

Under Car Damage
You are reminded that all underbody or overhead damage is at renters risk and in the event of the vehicle being driven on any unsealed road or surface or out of the area of authorised use as shown on the rental agreementthen the renter is liable for the total cost of both damage and associated costs.

Security Deposit
When you pick up your vehicle, a pre-authorisation will be taken from your nominated credit, equivalent to the excess on the vehicle as security in the event of an accident. This excess level varies depending on whether you take excess reduction insurance or not, and if so, what policy you select. Please read the table below to find out more about the options available.

A range of policies are available to reduce your the excess you would be required to pay in the event of an accident. The cost of each policy is quoted on this website at the time of booking. This is what they cover you for:

A credit card imprint is required to cover the full amount of chosen excess.

Drivers License
We ask that you produce a current Australian, overseas or international drivers license which has been held for a minimum of two years. Minimum age (as above) is 21 years.

Fuel
Vehicle is rented with a full tank. We ask that renters refill the vehicle prior to return. Should vehicle not be returned with a full tank a service fee will apply for refuelling.

Stamp Duty
State Government Stamp Duty is payable at between 0.5% and 2% dependent upon location. This is collected locally.

Child/Baby Seats:
Baby seats for self fittment-front facing are available at an additional charge as detailed on the website at the time of booking. Baby booster seats can also be rented. Approved Baby seats,and booster seats are available, subject to availability at time of booking, please ensure request is made at that time.

Kilometres
100 free kilometres included in the rental rates. Additional km will be charged at $0.40 per km. You can get unlimited kilometres for standard cars & tarago.

Street Directories and Maps
We offer city street maps upon request at time of booking. We also offer Satellite Navigation Unit at an additional daily cost.

Fleet
All Metro Rent A Car Online vehicles are purchased new and rarely is any vehicle kept for more than eighteeen months. Reservations must be made by group and Metro Rent A Car Online reserves the right to substitute a similar model.

Office Hours
Most of our offices are open from 0800 to 1800, seven days a week. Pre-booked reservations will be initiated at airports at any time, 24 hours a day, providing flight details have been advised.

Airport Deliveries
In Australia, Metro Rent A Car Online is a licensed off airport operator at Brisbane and Gold Coast airports. So we have what is known as the “Meet and Greet” system. This means that, as you disembark from the aircraft and clear customs, we have one of our representatives meet and greet you. At that point we do all of the normal paperwork which only takes a matter of minutes. You are well on your way to enjoying your holiday with a minimum of fuss. Our personalised service ensures you no longer have to wait in queues and then go searching for your vehicle. The meet and greet system operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is a extra fee for all airport pick-up and drop-offs. This operation also applies to domestic flights.

Hotel & Motel Deliveries
Vehicles will be delivered to all hotels and motels free of charge, within a 15 kilometre radius of the office during office hours. You will be picked up from accommodation and driven back to our office for completion of the paperwork. On completion of the rental you will be driven back to your accommodation.

Terms of booking on this website

The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. Liability

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

We do not have a physical location in Brisbane, however we can pick you up from any hotel or motel within the metropolitan city area. We do not pick up from private addresses for security reasons. Should this be your circumstance, we would need to pick from an airport location which would attract a compulsory additional charge of $15 for domestic and $20 for international. Such charges will be automatically calculated into your rental while booking on this site.
